The Living the Past programme offers to the tourists the possibility to learn the old local techniques of gold panning. You will take part to the making of the most important traditional wooden tools, including the famous “troc, hirlostea, dirg” and many others. You will also use ancient stone tools, such as the grinding mill. Old miners will teach you how to use the “saitroc” for separating the gold from the sand.
You may also take part to the building of a "steamp" (stamping mill made of wood), similar to the ones used during the Middle Age in the Transylvanian region.
